Never let the facts get in the way of a good story, or cartoon. Since Covid-19 first hit in 2020 through last month, 86% of the deaths are 63 and older. Probably not the cause of the shortage.
I am sad for everyone who has died from covid and most were older folks who had retired from the workforce due to age or pre-existing sickness/disability. So not true to imply 1,000,000 workers died and hence can not fill jobs.
I would share this if the grammar was correct, or did you mean to say "Why is it so hard to 'feel' all the vacant positions"? It does not make sense. It should say 'FILL' the vacant positions

Seems to me the caption should read: WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FILL..., NOT FEEL.
